@benroyce@mastodon.social Especially on Facebook and X. A recent study found 90% of Reform UK-supporting accounts on Facebook are fake. The oligarchs and plutocrats want autocratic governments that'll do their bidding, in their own narrow interests...at the expense of everyone else. This is what happens when we let psychopaths gain too much power and influence. Corporate social media is an echo chamber for their malign influence campaigns. The fedi isn't much better, but is at least a significant improvement.

@ApostateEnglishman@mastodon.world You, of course, entitled to your opinion. I’d like to point out that the #Fed is nothing like the #toxic #corporate platforms you rightly condemn. It isn’t for two main reasons (there are others but these are preference-based): 1) Your fedi #Mastodon feed is **curated** by you. You see only what you want to see (normally via #hashtags). 2) There is nothing *pushed* to your timeline through **algorythms** (which is what is happening on the other platforms for *propaganda* purposes as well as other nefarious practices). What you see are real people and not bots (the later are usually reported and blocked very quickly, plus, you can block them yourself with a mere two clicks) I’d like to add a third, although this one is choice-based depending on your own interests and preferences. You pick the *Instance* depending on whom you wish to converse with and share the same interests (or otherwise if you prefer). @FediTips@social.growyourown.services can help you navigate **Your** preferences. Be well, and if you’re still using #TechBros software, get onto something equivalent that is not (you can ask the fediverse brain trust for examples).
