You are right, there is a ton of overlap. It’s mind-boggling to me that before 2013 in the U.S. you couldn’t even diagnose ADHD and autism together - they would rule each other out. Now we know better.

Really?! That’s crazy. I was diagnosed with ADD as a child but I wasn’t diagnosed with autism until I was 28. Growing up with undiagnosed autism in the US was awful. I was always high masking, and I thought that explained why I wasn’t diagnosed with ASD but maybe it was because of the ADD diagnosis. Backwards ass country. This was in the 90s so I hope this shit has improved since then.
