another example is that from taking apart my vacuum cleaner for servicing a couple of weeks ago, I learned how cyclones worked this has immediately come in useful when looking at dust collection for wood sanding since it's literally the same problem scaled up and meant I can combine a more reasonable vacuum (including my household one using an adapter) with a bucket and a printed cyclone :D
