Some of the stuff he does is against general capitalist interest, but not against some people's personal self-interest. I believe he is trying to enrich himself and family by offering actions and policy for sale, and playing different interests against each other. He does the bidding of whoever offers him, personally, the most (I think there are massive bribes going on that we are not aware of), and engages in racketeering on a grand scale. For the stupid Greenland thing, Bezos, Gates, Bloomberg, and Altman are invested in Greenland's minerals. Thiel is backing the startup, Praxis, which is considering building a "Freedom City" in Greenland. Ronald Lauder is reportedly the billionaire who gave Trump the idea of acquiring Greenland.
