Could be worse. You could be a liberal justice and refuse to step down despite your age and health. Then decide to kill over when Trump is in office and allow a supreme court to destroy everything you represented or accomplished. RBG was the ultimate boomer refusing to pass the torch and choosing to recognize their own mortality. She was 87 fucking years old. Alito is being smart and not being stupid like RBG was. She should have stepped down as soon as Obama was elected the 2nd time.
