Worked on, analyzed, published, in some form or another, open data regarding oceans, for IOLR, Ministry of Environmental Protection, HUJI, TAU/Steinhardt Museum, Haifa U.
Seen other works by Technion, Mapi, INPA, GII.
The data is there, but very cumbersome to maintain, govern, search and access, because unlike terrestrial, with easily demarcated limits and jurisdictions, water is water.

@hareldan@mapstodon.space That data, although a mess (we've got someone trying to standardize it now), at least exists and is available if you're willing to jump through the necessary hoops. The same can't be said for all countries (notably around the Mediterranean, Middle Eastern Gulf, Red Sea, and Indian Ocean)
