i like septabee and if it grows enough it might even completely eliminate the need for an actually good free traditional DAW which is what i wanted to make however! there's no vst support. as i understand it this is intentional as septabee is designed to make synths and effects by oneself because vst is awful, i think that's super fair and even agree to an extent but yk we have this whole other ecosystem that's already matured with tons and tons of plugins (that may or may not be great at what they do) and, existing users of other daws can't benefit much from using it, past learning a bit how audio effects work. granted, this can lead to huuuuuge inspiration and knowledge and turn one into a sound design wizard like Au5 but without the flexibility of septabee elsewhere it's also gonna end up being a bit annoying also the ux is weird do i think septabee is good? yes, i actually think it marks a true revolution in music production industry, AND it's free, and i think it's super cool that it was made by a fellow trans person but the way i currently work, i need my vsts so anyway where am i going with this septabee actually gave me a bit of an idea. its audio processing and actual project window thing are two entirely separate processes, if the audio processing crashes the project is fine and it'll just boot back up. if the project itself happens there's also a third process called the watchdawg which idk what it does, it like stores changes in memory or something i think this is genius, i think why not implement this in a traditional daw? also if bee++ (the "all dsp is optimized for the cpu it's running on live so it's even faster than c++" programming language) ever gets released and enough work is put into it maybe i could use it for the dsp of my own daw and plugins! for now i'll keep using rust but it's exciting septabee's design can be applied elsewhere and i think that's the real revolution it has brought
