15 years experience in a leadership position for something so specific seems like a hard ask. I feel like that’s just asking for a person in their 50s who probably won’t really understand the technological environment they’ll be dealing with.

Congratulations you just defined what I think of all management roles. A fifty something male with “street smarts” and no degree/trade training in the field. They all have a chip on their shoulder about younger workers having higher educations/more training.
