@hmwilker@social.tchncs.de it's on purpose. Basically one brand that was known for their quality was quite loud, so there became an association of loud == better quality. Which created an arms race. Then various bike YouTubers would compare free hub sounds when reviewing bikes. And finally a few morons think it's an alternative to a bell for alerting pedestrians.
