fender has gone the IBM route (if you can't innovate, litigate) for years. i know a luthier with small production (< 25 instruments a year) who got a cease and desist for a telecaster shaped uke. wasn't electric, wasn't solid body, was a uke/not guitar, he'd made maybe 6 of them?

@paul_ipv6@infosec.exchange I'm looking at my spreadsheet of musical instruments (way too many), and realized I really *don't* need that Fender American P-bass. *sigh* I'll try to sell it without the case; many players prefer soft cases and I absolutely love the hard case it has. I can put my other (Japanese-made) P-bass in it and then yeet that particular case.
