Yes, size doesn’t necessarily mean quality, but I see people using it for shorthand calculations, and maybe poorly encoded files get moved down the list. I’m watching a lot of older movies, though, so I probably need to pay more attention.

In my opinion, bitrate is more important than definition. It doesn’t matter how many pixels are encoded if you don’t have the details to fill them in. That’s why 480p upscaled DVDs look so much better than a lot of 720p and 1080p videos out there
