I was reading that 40% of adult Americans do not have a job. Less than 50% do not work full time--and may even work as little as a couple of hours a week. The unemployment rate, however, is around 5%. Because it all depends on how you count things. For instance, 40% includes retirees. The biggest employer in the US is Wal-Mart, with 1.6 million employees. In fact, looking at the top employers in the United States makes it plain that the vast majority of people working do not have any sort (1)
