I take it they used the King James "Thou shalt not take the name of the Lord your God in vain" translation, rather than the more-accurate "you will not carry the name of Yahweh your God for empty purposes" ...like for example, using Yahweh's name in empty displays of faux piety while ignoring the poor and oppressed.

It is. Being "persecuted" is a requirement of their faith, so they have to manufacture it.

They never see past the next move. It's their belief that forcing it down peoples throats is gods work and they have the moral high ground. It's not for the people there today, it's for the kids a generation from now.
