@mattblaze@federate.social so if you're sufficiently insane, you might see a contract as a kind of futures option to, effectively, own a tranche of a proucer's output for a given amount of production, and the breach terms as being the cost to liquidate the option without purchase. and if you look at the world that way and you want to gamesmanship your way into being the only solvent company still claiming frontier development after your rivals have signaled they're slowing down, it would behoove you to maintain such contracts well in excess of actual plans. just as a thought.
