@wgrav@fosstodon.org Well, it was more for Pixelfed.social and the other official websites and the apps. It was a crazy period of time, and this was before the Kickstarter, then after the offers increased. I assume they wanted to monetize and leverage the brand hype at that time to earn it back, but yeah, that would never have worked. Instead, we're going to implement ethical monetization that gets creators and admins paid, because that's how it should be.
