I had the most anxiety-inducing experience at the dentist yesterday.
New guy, mid-30s, subbing for my dentist who’s out on maternity leave. New playlist in the office. 70s and 80s new wave, nice.
As he’s prepping me for the Novocain he starts humming along to the speakers. Phil Collins. He’s got this needle and telling me to turn towards him and open. “AND I REMEMBER…”
He’s got the needle in my cheek when the drum break drops.

It’s physically impossible for two grown men to resist doing air drums when that hits. Somehow we did, but I was sweating. Later he acknowledged it was difficult for him too but he got through it
