How did old-timey house gas-lamps work anyway?
Did they have to be lit with a match? Was it possible to turn them on without lighting them and then fill your house with gas?

I'm still thinking about last night's #monsterdon. By 1959, I think gas lamps would be a real novelty for the younger characters, but they acted like it was perfectly mundane.
