Hello people, critters and entities of Fedi! :ms_wave_paw_v3:
My name is Omega, aka "Straybun" or "purplerabbit", and I go by she/her pronouns. I'm a french transfeminine bunny girl and if you are reading this, I am currently hopping around your computer for you to cuddle. I promise to refrain from chewing on any cables, you don't have to worry about a thing. I only bring cuddles.
I'm half of dgirl.gay :dgirl:, the internet space of the amazing @moonfaced@goo.dgirl.gay and I, and you're reading this from our #GoToSocial instance goo.dgirl.gay. We're partners in internet crimes, sisters in transness and soulmates in life. She's also my owner. But really, I own her (don't tell her I said that). :collared:
My fedi profile and posting habits.
As you have no doubt started to pick up on, I'm quite a verbose rabbit. I try to make things shorter but I can't help myself, I always have a lot of things to say. A lot of that is a byproduct of a strong anxiety to be misunderstood and mischaracterised. I've kind of been trained my entire life to over explain myself to make sure that people would understand my intentions. It is what it is.
I have lots of thoughts and feelings, I like sharing them (in details). Passion and melancholy comes to me quite easily, expect posts to come in bursts and always heed the content notices on every post. All posts have content notices on them because people are sensitive to various things and it can be difficult to predict, doing it this way removes some anxiety on my end.
My content notices will always be detailed, no weird incomprehensible acronym here. Sometimes, I'll use them as a "post title" but you should always be made aware in advance of what a post will contain.
My opinions are not stuck in stone, quite the contrary, they can evolve and change quite fast. I'm not ashamed to admit that I was wrong or to change my mind on things, I welcome it.
The most important thing I want you to keep in mind about my profile is that, it is mine. It's my own personal space and while I try to make it as comfortable as I can for everyone, it has to be comfortable and as frictionless as possible for me first and foremost. If I get scared of posting on my own profile, it means that something is wrong and that I need to change something.
For more information, you can learn about me in my (also) detailed bio/description.
My pledge to the Fediverse.
The internet can often be an escape for people trying to flee their realities, some which may seem inescapable. While I have mixed feelings on the Fediverse as a space for community, as in, I'm not sure if I want to be a member of a community, I think I just want a space for me, it's an inevitable part of a federated account. Which is why I want to make a pledge to the people coming to my profile.
I want this place to be a safe space for both me and you, for any internet travellers seeking refuge, this place can be a shelter, or at the very least, a checkpoint on your journey. No matter who or what you are, so long as our values unite us.
I don't wish for this profile to just be a safe space for only other white trans women, people like me, but rather, I want it to be safe for all people. I want to listen to the voices and those who are different from me, and I want them to feel comfort alongside me. My allyship all shall be unconditional.
I vow to show kindness and understanding through my wording. To show care and attention for others through accessibility. To do my best to not propagate misinformation and to properly retract should it happen. I swear that I'll always try to keep an awareness of all of my privileges, to work to understand them and to use them to elevate those who are less fortunate than I am. This account vows to proudly be anti-fascists, anti-queerphobes, anti-racists and anti-ableists. I promise to not compromise on my morals and beliefs, to uphold these values without compromise.
I also pledge to posts my joys and hurt like a bonfire to be lit in triumph over the harshness of life. To never hide away all of the extent of my autism, to cry and hurt for all to see. To always be earnest, to be cringe, to be mentally ill, to disabled and queer to my very core. Radically me, now and always.
This pledge is also a vow to be flawed, part of that promise is that I will inevitably fail. It lives and breathes in what I do with these failures. Strive to do better, always and forever, accepting that it can never be perfect or even enough, just an unrelenting will to live by an ideal, so I pledge to always try and do better.
All I ask in return, is that you take me at my word for what it is, and not for what you would presume it to be. Hand me the benefit of the doubt. Please, presume no ill intentions within my heart. Perhaps one day I will show ignorance, perhaps those privileges that are an unsheddable part of who I am will be a veil to my view of a topic, perhaps I will do or say something that hurts you. Should that day ever come, just let me know, I promise that it will be heard.
Thank you for reading, welcome to my profile, I hope you'll find it a safe place for you to rest with me, even for just a moment. Whatever you end up doing, please be kind, I scare easy. Most importantly, please, pet the bunny on your way out. :neobun_heart:
