There is no legitimate reason to have armed immigration enforcement agents. As I've argued before (link below, no paywall), immigration detention is kidnapping. Forcibly restraining and confining people is a disproportionate response to violations of immigration law. Since it is illegitimate to arm immigration agents with handcuffs, it is definitely illegitimate to arm them with guns.
