With the recent waves of discovered severe security vulnerabilities, it's really interesting (in a disappointing way) to observe what some people consider solutions. The top two are, of course, memory safe languages and automated scanning of the sloppy kind. They see the problem but they fail to learn from it. Rust won't safe you if you still run all your applications unsandboxed. The security model of all currently relevant desktop operating system sucks. It needs replacement, not ducttape.
