Okay, can someone explain the whole #fediverse thing around #threads and #fedipact? I understood that #hachyderm is still federating Meta, but gave advice how every user can block the domain and essentially decide for themselves whether they want to see it here.
Now a friend of mine sent me a thread about how this decision is transphobic or generally bigoted. And I don't quite get it? I understand that Meta is big tech and "corporate evil". But how is that supporting #transphobia etc.?

@odddev@hachyderm.io I think their point would be that Meta isn’t moderating that type of content, so by federating you might expose your users to that, unless they choose to block themselves of course.

@odddev@hachyderm.io Putting it very simply Meta doesn’t remove transphobic content so any instance that federates with it potentially allows transphobic content onto it. An easy way to fix this is to block the Threads instance from your user settings. The better way to fix this would be if Meta actually started moderating and removing transphobic content, but that doesn’t seem to be happening any time soon, so…
