Require the big AI companies to embed watermarks with entirely free and private decoders, as well as use things like Hcaptcha passive and/or Turnstile on Lemmy and defederate from instances which don't implement them.

You have got to be joking, right? "The solution to AI companies doing illegal shit is to ask them nicely to let us know when they're doing it". HCaptcha only works until it doesn't.
