Yet certain (right-wing) politicians continue to claim Whiteness as "Canadian values". Note: In my travels I have found the US to be just as culturally diverse as Canada, but I'm just repeating what we were taught as kids in the 80's, and how the differemce in our natiom's approach was desceibed; that open diversity, not assimilation, is what makes us Canadian and gives us our "Canadian identity".
