I have my own email server but I'm using it mainly for mailing lists and as professionally looking signature for git commits. When I mention someone that they can email me they give me weird looks. Corporations and spammers made people hate emails. I'm not even sure if I can send emails to big providers, as sans mailing list, last time I've send email from personal address was years ago.

@aelspire@aelspire.info Yes the spamming of end users has really screwed with the protocol, a shame really. JS and HTML in emails didn't help. I remember the golden years of plain text not fancy but efficient. Nowadays nearly all email I get is some form of promotion or marketing, I have unsubscribed so often I do it in my sleep now. My wife and I email mostly and occasionally we talk too, across the table 😂
