#disability #selfadvocacy I’ve learnt there’s quite an art to having the ‘so, what do you do?’ convo with strangers. Recently I’ve used ‘I’m not required to work, so that means I am fortunate in being able to pick and choose meaningful projects’. It’s empowering. Yesterday I had the question where I wasn’t familiar enough to use that. I said ‘I volunteer’. He replied ‘nothing wrong with that!’. I’m thinking he did in fact think there was at least a little something wrong with it 🙄
