Hooray! This week's #Monsterdon is Sting of Death, so let's look at some fun Jellyfish facts this week.🪼
Basics first. Jellyfish are soft, invertebrate animals, members of the phylum Cnidaria along with anemones and corals. Cnidarians are known for their stinging abilities.
A typical jellyfish's jelly-like body (Mesoglea) is mostly water, sandwiched between two thin layers of living tissue. The bell-shape we think of as "a jellyfish" is called a Medusa, and it's just one phase of the jellyfish lifecycle.
