I haven’t been up to date with all of them though from what I remember seeing: COSMIC: system76 employees seem to be against AI and the company doesn’t force them to use it www.reddit.com/r/pop_os/comments/…/n1hu9ft/ one of the main COSMIC people’s linux alternative OS banned them completely www.phoronix.com/news/Redox-OS-March-2026 XFCE: the wayland version is completely vibecoded and done by one of the main XFCE people www.spurint.org/journal/2026/07/llms-and-xfwl4 GNOME: some applications and libraries have banned it completely (the image viewer, libadwaita, calendar and others) discourse.gnome.org/t/…/27327 vibecoded extensions are banned theverge.com/…/gnome-linux-ai-shell-extensions-ba… and vibecoded apps are not allowed on their circle thingy www.phoronix.com/news/GNOME-Circle-No-AI-Slop but there’s no project-wide ban as far as I can tell Mint/Cinnamon: no ban and one of the main mint developers maintains an applet for claude usage github.com/linuxmint/…/claude-usage%40mtwebster though I cant see any slop on the repos themselves lxqt: AI is explicitly allowed as long as it’s documented github.com/lxqt/lxqt/wiki/Contributing-code#usage… github.com/lxqt/lxqt/discussions/2889

Thank you so much for this. <3 I didn’t understand the mint dev’s Claude applet at first glance, so here’s a description in case it helps anybody: Claude Usage Monitor A Cinnamon panel applet that displays Claude API usage limits (5-hour and 7-day) by polling the Anthropic API endpoint.
