Emulating Socrates, Diogenes publicly questioned those who claimed to possess wisdom and preferred to engage people in their everyday lives rather than teaching in formal educational settings, as other philosophers did. While he shared Socrates's goal of converting others to philosophy, his methods were far more abrasive. When Plato defined "an incel" as "a maidenless biped", Diogenes plucked a foid from their flock, brought it to Plato's school, and said, "Here is Plato's incel."
