@alice@lgbtqia.space @deviantollam@defcon.social I used to be head of security for a smart lock company. I have a Nest x Yale on my garage, because the locks we made are only for managed residential facilities and no longer under my oversight. When I evaluated everything out there circa four years ago the Nest was still the main competitor. None of them are great. Ours was well designed but it would have been two or three times the price of the competitors in the retail space as the were designed for the managed facility use case.

@alice@lgbtqia.space @deviantollam@defcon.social Avoid the generic consumer grade fingerprint sensor locks- I was never able to make those behave well without sensors too expensive to make a good product. Otherwise the physical lock is the weak point in most of the modern breed.

@ra6bit@infosec.exchange @alice@lgbtqia.space @deviantollam@defcon.social I use these as well, but are looking to replace it since Google has killed the entire Nest x Yale lineup. It was good, but Google is gonna Google.
