@mansr@society.oftrolls.com - Hmm, I've never heard "sunwise". Maybe it's a more natural concept at high latitudes. I tend to orient myself using the Sun - I feel a bit uncomfortable if I don't know which way is north - so in Singapore I was often frustrated, because it's so close to the equator. But yes, it's interesting to see how some people haven't thought much about the motion of the Sun. For me it's part of being a physicist: physics starts out being about the motion of objects, and the heavenly bodies are really attention-grabbing.
