@_elena@mastodon.social yeah, the usual "don't mix politics with tech/software" bullsh*t basically

@_elena@mastodon.social So you made the move to Bitwarden?

@_elena@mastodon.social I got exactly the same canned response after contacting them this morning to express my feelings on the matter. Mine was signed by "Luke H".

@_elena@mastodon.social "[T]houghtfully and openly" sounds like typical feedback on instructions by #genai to me.

@_elena@mastodon.social there's plenty of other ways to support open source work financially that don't go to a nazi's foundation (at least I assume nazi's haven't taken over all of open source).

@_elena@mastodon.social bitwarden is great, using it for many years. What's wrong with omarchy?

@_elena@mastodon.social Remove abusive power, before it's too late, and avalanches into utter collapse.

@_elena@mastodon.social I received the exact same response, word for word, which is understandable I do wish they didn't downplay it so much

@_elena@mastodon.social That sounds like a pile of bullshit to me. If they had done 5 minutes of Googling, they would have known exactly how their support of Omacom would be perceived by large parts of the developer and open-source communities. People don't usually tend to throw heaps of money at random foundations with no research about who they are and what they're in the news for. At this point, one has to assume that anyone who chooses to support Omarchy does it because of DHH's views, not despite them.

@_elena@mastodon.social It should be clear enough by now that for-profit companies are fascism adjacent, if not full on collaborators. Especially in tech, the brain worms have burrowed deep in that industry. We need some nonprofit or cooperative cloud services that exist and run for the users and not just to inflate the ego of some empty suit.

@_elena@mastodon.social What a waste of time all that typing was. I didn't even finish reading this pile. Fuck them. "...already have a meaningful presence in that community..." Yep. Understood.

@_elena@mastodon.social Leaked Slack comment from the CEO indicates what they really think: "the Nazis are the victims" -- see https://www.theverge.com/tech/988536/1password-dhh-linux-controversy
