Yes, we need a better alternative. But people shouldn't accept their privacy being raped just because billionaires are lazy to implement better systems (but more likely they want to gather all the user data and are just pretending that there aren't better solutions), doesn't mean people should accept these shitty solutions. And guess what. I believe the FOSS community will come up with a much better solution than the greedy, cheating billionaires.

    Did you refuse to read a Reddit post, or fail to understand it? Out of the three options Spez has mentioned, two guarantee privacy. The third is - and he mentions the pitfalls - the use of government issued e-IDs. This is problematic for obvious reasons, however - properly implemented - *can* also guarantee privacy.
