The fire risk here (south coast NSW) is officially rated Moderate today, but it's windy and I reckon it's more like the Illawarra/Shoalhaven rating of High. It's the Sydney Extreme that's motivated me to do a bit of fire preparation: cutting and shredding the bush closest to my house, turning it into mulch/compost which I hope will eventually improve the topsoil in my backyard desert.
