Trying to think about “crisis of liberalism”. Will post some ideas here, and invite reactions
Liberalism framed as centrism. Ideologically incoherent since it means your ideas are determined by those of opponents on left and right. Requires search for decent conservatives and tankie leftists to offset reality that opponents of democracy are overwhelmingly on political right.
Corresponding failure to recognise that liberals are on the right flank of the pro-democracy coalition.

Past cohabitation with propertarian/libertarians, “classical liberals” etc who have mostly gone Nazi Treating property rights as human rights rather than social constructions Discomfort with “every billionaire is a policy failure”

@johnquiggin@aus.social the extract from Waleed Aly's Quarterly Essay in the Guardian got some astute comments. I can't get past Philip Mirowski's take of (neoliberalism) treating the market as an epistemological machine, and becoming a self reinforcing loop
