Alito and Thomas dissent, with a longer opinion.
Bottom line: bad news for the executive order and new USPS rules. At least six of the justices appear to think it will likely lose on the merits.
In any case, the new mail voting restrictions are dead for at least the midterms.

FWIW, this is the outcome I expected (and certainly agree with), but I expected more of this court to endorse Kavanaugh’s narrower, hedged reasoning (based solely on the timing and the fact that the election has started already). So the majority ruling is actually a stronger repudiation of the executive order and USPS rules than I had predicted we’d see at this stage. @heidilifeldman@mastodon.social
