@bersl2@furry.engineer not really. Sorry this point hit me harder than normal, it came across my timeline after a bank refused me to login online until I called and verified my id. I did not like this by reflex, but on reconsideration it's better than alternatives And many online services are paid / tied to financial services. So there's more overlap than a blanket statement can assert. Even here on Mastodon, I pay the collective monthly, that is tied to a credit card. But no, I was already not using Discord because it's tied to phone number; the id verification just means guaranteed location tracking.
